Framing Your Limited Edition Artwork

Congratulations! So you’re the proud owner of a limited edition art piece. We assume that not only is it valuable, but it is one of your prized possessions. We also assume you want to keep it protected so that it not only retains its monetary value, but you can safely enjoy it for years to come. Whether it is artwork that has been passed down from generation to generation, something you recently purchased at an art show, or even something you were lucky enough to find at a second-hand store, you want to give it the display it deserves.

Now, just because your artwork may be worth a lot of money, you don’t need to make an additional costly purchase framing it. Here at Frame It Easy, it is our mission to make custom online framing simple, affordable, and fast, leaving you more time (and money) to experience those frameable moments. We stand by the fact that we are one of the most affordable online framing companies, but we are equally proud of the quality of our product. Not only does that mean a great-looking frame, but one that will protect and preserve your artwork for years to come.

We have 8 different frame styles in both wood and metal that come in an array of different colors, from black and white to green and hot pink! If you’ve been to our Learning Center before, you know we have tons of suggestions to inspire you in designing your frame. But as we always say, the design process is completely up to you! That being said, we’re always here to help, so if you are looking for tips and tricks on how to design a frame for your limited edition artwork, you came to the right place.

Preserve and Protect

Any artwork deserves a frame that not only enhances its appeal but will also protect it from the elements, and this is especially important with limited edition artwork that is not easily replaceable. (It’s also important for any artwork that may not have great monetary value, but has equally priceless sentimental value.) Heat, humidity, and UV rays can easily damage artwork that is not correctly framed, not to mention a broken water pipe, a missed thrown football, and other mishaps…accidents happen!

Here is where the quality of your frame comes into play. While nothing can totally protect your artwork from every possible accidental misfortune, here are some considerations to protect your artwork:

Frame Components

Wood or Aluminum

Natural wood, while aesthetically pleasing, is also costly. It is also more susceptible to pest infestation and warping in high heat and humidity. Here at Frame It Easy, we use finger-jointed poplar, which uses recycled solid wood materials bonded together and is then covered with high-quality laminate, resulting in a sturdy, high-quality frame.

Aluminum frames are a great alternative to traditional metal frames in silver or bronze not only because of their lower cost, but also require less maintenance. Our aluminum frames are anodized or powder-coated, making them durable, rigid, and corrosive-resistant.

Matting

Matboards are not only decorative, but they protect your artwork. How? They separate it from the Cover (see next) so that condensation, which can build up between the two, can’t cause resulting water damage to your art. We use 4-ply boards that are fade and bleed resistant as well as acid-free on their surface, core, and backing paper.

Cover

The cover of your frame is simply the traditional glass part of your frame. However, as we are all painfully aware, glass easily breaks! We use acrylic covers that are impact-resistant but also have the added bonus of absorbing most harmful UV rays before it reaches your artwork.

Hardware

While all the above components are important for your framing project, it’s equally important that your artwork is safely secured to your wall, especially in high traffic areas (or where indoor football is allowed lol). Your artwork will come with everything you need (minus the hammer) to hang it properly and safely.

Don’t Break The Bank

Just because your art piece was expensive doesn’t mean that your frame needs to be, too. We’ve done our research, and we stand behind the fact that we offer very affordable custom framing of high quality. We provide you with the lowest prices possible, and that is why we rarely offer discount codes. Our shipping costs are exactly what it costs us to ship your frames to you. (Don’t be fooled by “free shipping” offers.) We don’t profit off shipping — we’re actually saving you in the end by not bundling shipping into the price of the frame.

Take a look below at our chart that represents the price of our Derby frame style with clear acrylic and no matting compared to our competitors.

Artwork SizeFrame It Easy (Derby Frame)Our Competitors
5” x 7” $14.89$55-$65
8” x 12” $25.03$68-$85
12” x 16” $35.11$85-$99
16” x 24” $50.72$115-$145
20” x 30” $64.61$145-$179

Can you buy a more expensive frame? Sure. But do you need to? No!

Display It In Style

As we said in the beginning, your limited edition artwork deserves a proper display. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so a “proper” display means different things to different people. But let’s look at a couple of options. Remember, this is custom framing, so don’t stop with these suggestions. The great thing about our Frame Designer is that you can experiment every step of the way in the process until you create the perfect frame for your treasured piece.

If you are looking for an elegant way to style your art piece, check out our Granby frame style. This ornate wood frame is the perfect way to showcase your art. Our Granby frame style comes in two colors, silver or gold, and will instantly grab your viewer’s attention when they see the piece. Using this ornate wood frame will give your photo an expensive, tasteful look.

If you think that using an ornate frame may take away from your piece, we always have a simpler option. Take a look at our Ashford frame style that comes in eight different colors. Ashford is a thin flat metal (⅜” wide) that allows more of the photograph to be exposed. If you have an abstract piece of art or a colorful piece of art, a lighter frame option might be best.

But when you are fortunate enough to be the proud owner of a limited edition piece, we want to be sure that you are satisfied with not only how it looks, but that it will be safe for years to come. And we don’t think you have to spend a fortune to get both.

We can’t wait to see what you create using our Frame Designer. Don’t forget to send us photos of our finished product so we can see the final result!
